The 'horchata de chufa' is a refreshing drink originally from Alboraya (Valencia, Spain) prepared with water, sugar and wet 'chufas' (or ground). Horchatería Daniel is a tradicional cafe which has been serving this beverage since 1949.
I chose to illustrate 'Horchatería Daniel' for the 'Valencia se ilustra' event because It seems to me a very picturesque place where tradition and modernity meet: the cosmopolitan Valencia and that of all life, the octogenarians and the tourists, the white-shirted waiters.
'Valencia se ilustra' (its translation would be 'Illustrating Valencia') is an event organized by 'La Rambleta' (an important cultural center of the city) and the 'Pepita Lumier Gallery'. Is a bimonthly event that aims to gather in the form of illustrations, the different corners of the city of Valencia under the gaze of different illustrators.
